I'm writing you all today to officially announce that the Boiling Point Track Classic will no longer be held. I know rumors have been swirling and for some of you this won't be news and for others it will be a disappointing shock. This wasn't an easy decision to make nor was it made lightly. I have dragged my feet in announcing this and for that I do apologize. After all, Boiling Point was my baby and it's one thing to know in your heart that it's time to move on, but quite another to proclaim it to the world.

In some regards, Boiling Point exceeded my expectations. I never dreamed that athletes from as far away as Japan, Thailand and Australia would come all this way for something that I helped to create. Some of my favourite moments were picking up athletes at Detroit Metro Airport and bringing them into Canada (many for the first time) and watching them hang out the window while taking pictures from the Ambassador Bridge. The multiple World Records that have been broken and the fact that we hosted the first Canadian Soldiers to be wounded in active duty who then went on to compete at Boiling Point for their first meet are all things that have blown me away. I had always hoped that I could turn this into a paid career and unfortunately that was never realized. I feel that it is time for me to pursue a career path where I will be compensated for my talents. I hope you all understand.

I want to thank you, the athletes, for believing in our vision and supporting the meet year after year. Without you, simply none of this would have been possible. In addition, I would like to thank the National Paralympic Committees from around the world that valued the importance of this meet and continued to support your athletes attendance over the years. I extend a special thank you to the United States Olympic Committee in this regard.

I certainly need to thank Athletics Canada and their staff members that collaborated with me to secure IPC sanctioning and grant dollars from Sport Canada year after year. The whole reason Dave Greig and I started this was because we felt our great, and sadly often over looked, Paralympians deserved a showcase here on Canadian soil. It wouldn't have been as successful without the support of AC. We also had some great sponsors over the years, especially the University of Windsor and the University of Windsor Alumni Association. I can't thank you enough for supporting us.

I know this hurts the developmental athletes within Ontario the most. Another huge reason why I wanted to host a meet was because there was a large need for more para competitions in this province. Since Boiling Point was created, the number of para only competitions has dwindled down even further and I know the subtraction of this meet will be a loss for you. I would encourage those athletes in Ontario to integrate and join their local club teams and take advantage of the existing twilight meets that are held throughout the province. There has been a lot of work done over the years to persuade these club teams and twilight meets to welcome para events and athletes. I can only hope that you walk through that door and be pioneers in progressing our great sport.

I still remember that car ride home from a meet in 2006 where Dave and I had a simple conversation about my future. I don't think either of us had any idea that eight years later we would have welcomed hundreds of athletes from 15 different countries around the globe to little ole Windsor! Or that two rookie meet promoters under the age of 30 would win a bid to host the IAAF World Championship trials in our inaugural year.

We've witnessed seven World Records being broken. We averaged around four Canadian Records each year. For some athletes, it was their first meet. For others, it was their first international competition. For many, it was their first time coming to our great country. None of those milestones could have happened without you. Take pride in that. I know I do.
